Sharing a community champion’s story

Out of thousands of amazing stories shared during TELUS’ Give Where We Live campaign, one really stood out—Angel’s

Angel is a vibrant young woman from Port Alberni, B.C. She’s spent a lot of time in hospitals herself, which inspired her to start Hugginz by Angel, a non-profit that brings comfort to sick kids by sewing blankets, hospital pajamas, and hats—each one filled with love.

I want every sick child to have a fun set of Hugginz hospital pajamas or a cozy, cuddly love-filled Hugginz blanket to cuddle with when they are sick and have to be at the hospital
— Angel

Her dream? To reach even more kids. The challenge? She was sewing at her dining table and storing supplies in her bedroom. So, we stepped in and built her a cozy, fully equipped sewing studio—complete with new machines and lots of storage.

Angel’s kindness touches everyone around her, and now, with her new space and the support of her community, she can keep spreading comfort—one hug at a time.
